Well the weekend has come and gone and we couldnt accomplish much on the Charger, it was much too wet to really do anything. The only thing we did get done was drop a new set of plugs in her. I was havingproblems starting her and thought it was the fuel pump but since the new plugsare in she's starting like a dream. Thank god for that.We still have to fix the front guards as they have been cut and they are really sharp. I dont have a problem with them but the scrutineer has said that theycould cut someone up - like I dont plan on having anyone under my guards wasmy first thought. Anyway to save any crap we've come up with the idea of riveting some door trim around them, that way the edges will be smooth. Waseven thinking about adding extra guards (as in the flared SLR Torana) but gaveup on that, this way was much easier and cheaper. We've got a VR Commodore wreck sitting in the backyard, so we took it off that. Actually I have cut up about 12 pieces as I know they wont be lasting long after people hit me (fingers crossed they dont) - do you like the way I said others were going to hit me, not I will hit anybody.....So no doubt after every race I will be replacing them. The other thing we have to do is replace the steering wheel with a quick release one. Thats easy - no drama there. Then theres the bonnet hinges, at the moment the bonnet comes completely off - thats going to be too much of a pain in the a--- for me to lift off everytime I want to check under her, so we have decided we'll add some hinges and make it a proper bonnet - one that I can open up quickly if I have to (especially if theres a fire or if shes boiling and I have to cool her down). Like I am already thinking about these things and it isnt even race time yet.I dont want to put my name on her yet as I have stickers which I cut out one by one, and I do have a long name which is going to cover the whole of one side of the roof. Because its still pretty wet here at times (and no we dont have a garage-you think we would with all the cars in the yard) so I dont want them to come off before the race. I will probably do that about a week before racing starts..We signed all the paperwork and now just need to get a medical (Insurance purposes for the club) get the cars scrutineered once everything is fixed and then we are done. Also, Shannon is in the middle of getting two tandem trailers ready. He bought them really cheap off a guy up the road - really cheap, but of course the one for the Torana has to be completely done -although Shannon has welded the plates on that one, he just has to make ramps, put lights on it and brakes. With the other one, for the Charger he has already made two ramps up, has bought the wiring and lights for it and just has to put brakes on it. I am so proud of him for everything he is accomplishing especially as he works five days a week as well.So I think thats all for today, will keep you posted on whats happening.Cheers,Speedway ChickRev It Up Racing Gear
